The Certification

Learn to Think in Systems, Not Symptoms.

Functional medicine, taught the way it is practiced. Nine sections and thirty-five modules built on one clinical spine, and each one closes with a live test-out you clear before the next opens. Everyone learns the full system. Licensed clinicians go further, into medical dosing and prescribing. You leave able to practice, not just credentialed on paper.

How it works

Nothing Unlocks Because You Watched the Videos.

You enroll in the whole certification, not a menu of modules. From there you work one section at a time. You study it against a real patient case, then sit a live test-out and defend your reasoning before the next section opens. A section opens because you proved the last one, never because you clicked through it.

01

Enroll in the Whole Thing

You take the full certification, not an à la carte course you dip into. It is graduate-level clinical training, and it is built to be finished.

02

Learn on a Real Case

Every module follows one patient from intake through labs to protocol, so the biochemistry always lands inside a real clinical decision.

03

Sit the Test-Out

A live, closed-book session over Zoom. Rapid physiology, then an applied case you work through while someone who practices this listens.

04

Unlock What’s Next

Clear the section and the next one opens. The path ends with a final gate and a capstone client you run start to finish.

Before you begin

Everyone Starts From the Same Floor.

This is graduate-level clinical training, so it assumes a college-level science base. Before Section 1 opens, you clear the prerequisite coursework at a B or higher, or place out through the Foundations Placement Exam. Nobody learns biochemistry for the first time inside a clinical module.

Required · grade of B or higher

Prerequisite Coursework

  • General Biology, including cell biology
  • General Chemistry, with introductory organic and biochemistry
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II
  • Introductory Nutrition Science: macronutrients, micronutrients, digestion, and energy balance

Each must be completed at an accredited institution with a final grade of B or higher. A grade below B does not satisfy the requirement. You may also clear any course by passing the Foundations Placement Exam.

Recommended

Strengthens Your Footing

  • Medical Terminology and Reading Science
  • Introductory Microbiology and Immunology
  • Foundations of Exercise Physiology

Already qualified? A bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, kinesiology, biology, or nursing, or a professional license (RD/RDN, RN, NP, PA, MD/DO, DC, DPT), exempts you by transcript review.

Don’t have the prerequisites yet? The optional Foundations Bridge brings you to the B-or-higher standard before you begin Section 1.
The curriculum

Nine Sections. Thirty-Five Modules.

Sequenced from foundational to advanced, so laboratory interpretation and the highest-responsibility material come later, once you have the physiology to support them. Open a section to see the modules and the test-out that closes it.

Section 1 · FoundationsFoundations of Functional Medicine+

Root-cause thinking and the 5-Phase Continuum, then the nutritional biochemistry the rest of the program is built on.

Test-Out 1 · Foundations of food-as-medicine and metabolism
Section 2 · Energy & GutEnergy, Body Composition & the Gut+

Metabolic rate and body composition, the microbiome, and the behavior-change coaching that makes any of it last.

Section 3 · StressStress & the HPA Axis+

Cortisol rhythm, allostatic load, and the recovery physiology underneath the fatigue and the wired-but-tired crash.

Test-Out 3 · Explain the stress cascade and defend a recovery protocol
Section 4 · HormonesHormonal Health+

Female and male hormones, thyroid, and sexual health, taught as one endocrine system rather than separate panels.

Two credentials

One Curriculum. Two Credentials.

Everyone completes the core curriculum. The advanced labs and therapeutics that carry prescribing responsibility unlock for licensed clinicians. Coaches and allied health earn the Pro-Fit Certified Practitioner credential (PFC-P). Licensed clinicians earn the Pro-Fit Certified Clinician credential (PFC-C), with the advanced sections, the final gate, and a medical director behind them.

How you’re assessed

Competence, Proven Out Loud.

Each section closes with a live, closed-book verbal test-out: rapid physiology plus an applied case you reason through out loud. You’re graded on mechanistic accuracy, clinical reasoning, evidence literacy, protocol design, and communication. Any unsafe recommendation is an automatic fail.

The final gate adds a written exam, a closed-book oral board across all nine sections, a live case defense, and a full capstone mock client, run end to end.
